We promote creative and social skills.
The Landesvereinigung Kulturelle Jugendbildung Baden-Württemberg (LKJ), is a state-wide professional and umbrella organization of approximately 30 cultural education associations. Its work aims to encourage the participation of all children and young people in Baden-Württemberg in art and culture, as well to further the development of reliable cultural education structures.

What we offer
The LKJ offers creative cultural and media education by means of numerous projects for pupils and extracurricular activities. Through the media projects, children and young people improve their language, social and media skills.
The "KulturStarter" mentoring programme supports young people in implementing their own cultural ideas. As trained mentors, they play an active role in shaping cultural life at their schools and act as contacts for other young people interested in culture.
As a state-wide organization, the LKJ offers voluntary services in the fields of culture and education: Voluntary Social Year (FSJ) & Federal Voluntary Service (BFD) Culture, FSJ School and the hosting of “weltwärts” volunteers from South Africa. Teenagers and young adults can spend a year doing cultural and educational work in various institutions and gain professional orientation.
The promotion and further development of inclusive cultural education for children and young people is important to the LKJ. This includes the active participation of the participants themselves and the further training of multipliers and "enablers" of cultural programs for children and young people. Regular professional exchanges also play an important role in increasing the reach and quality of cultural education.
An example: “Kurswechsel Kultur”
With the cooperation project "Kurswechsel Kultur - Netzwerk. Richtung. Inklusion.", the LKJ and the Centre for Cultural Participation Baden-Württemberg (ZfKT) support the further development of more inclusive participation in cultural institutions within the state. Institutions are supported by the LKJ on their path to greater inclusion. They exchange ideas, gain new knowledge and insights and organize inclusive projects.
Counseling centre “Kultur macht stark”
The advice centre provides information and advice on the funding opportunities of the federal programme "Kultur macht stark. Bündnisse für Bildung" and organizes informative and networking events in Baden-Württemberg. It motivates and supports new alliances and applicants.
Service centre for child and youth participation
The service centre supports those involved in child and youth work as well as youth social work in the further development and expansion of political participation and the promotion of engagement. The state-wide service centre is jointly organized by the Landesjugendring, the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Jugendsozialarbeit and the LKJ.
jugend@bw - Project office for digital child and youth work and youth social work
jugend@bw promotes the development and expansion of digital and hybrid child and youth work and youth social work and works together with all stakeholders to advance qualitative digital and media education work.
Early education
Through the children's art labs (KinderKunstLaboren) in the "KiKuLa - Kreativ von Anfang an" project, the LKJ provides children with early access to cultural education activities. This strengthens children’s personal development. They experience cultural participation through their own creative activities in artistic workshops. Artists take care of young children’s unique needs, and educators receive inspiration for their daily work.
The LKJ is funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Integration. The LFK, the media authority for Baden-Württemberg, supports our media projects. The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport as well as numerous foundations and sponsors support the LKJ on a project basis. The LKJ cooperates with the Bundesvereinigung Kulturelle Kinder- und Jugendbildung (BKJ), the Zentrum für Kulturelle Teilhabe Baden-Württemberg (ZfKT) and the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung, among others.
